room hotel planned for Dilworth site

A Charlotte real estate company Suns Channing Frye Jersey is planning to a build a 127 room hotel on a 1.2 acre site at the corner of East Worthington and Cleveland avenues in Dilworth.

The Rainier Group, an affiliate of real estate investment firm Catellus Group, officialbasketballstore.com/chandler-parsons-jersey has filed a rezoning petition for the property, which is owned by a limited liability company called Bailey Family of Mecklenburg County Alpha.

The planned hotel would have five floors of rooms plus a sixth story restaurant and bar with skyline views. The project would include a courtyard and pool, along with 120 underground parking spots. The Gerald Green Pink Jersey firm is including plans for up to six townhome units along Cleveland Avenue as well.

Catellus Group, headed by CEO Stephen Barker, has its headquarters on the same block, in a Charleston style row house at 217 E. Tremont Ave. Ben Cassarino, president of Catellus Group, says the proposed hotel would be a full service, upscale property, but the firm hasn't reached any agreements on what brand it might carry.

"With all the small businesses that are located in the Dilworth and South End area, we just think this is a terrific place for this type of use," he says. "I think it will be a great tie in with all the residential that's going up and the commercial (development) that will follow in the South End area. Other than The Morehead Inn and perhaps The Duke Mansion, you really don't really have any hospitality services in this area."

The project falls within City Council District 1, which is represented by Billy Maddalon, managing owner of Unique Southern Estates, the company that operates The Morehead Inn. A public hearing on the rezoning is scheduled for January.

Catellus Group primarily focuses on acquiring value add properties in the hospitality, retail, office and industrial sectors. Through affiliates, the firm owns three properties along East Boulevard, near the corner of Cleveland Avenue, where several years ago it planned a 75 room boutique hotel called The Dilworth Inn, a project that has since been shelved.

The secretive life of America's most wanted man

The secretive life of America's most wanted man

That was almost a decade ago. In the intervening years, as the US expanded its already sprawling security apparatus in response to the attacks on 11 September 2001, Snowden rose up the ranks before leaving to work for outside contractors. By the time he decided to blow the whistle he was living with his girlfriend in Hawaii and earning around $200,000 a year. A local estate agent in the town of Waipahu said the pair left their rented home on 1 May when their landlord decided he wanted to sell up. Fittingly they were a private couple who kept their blinds closed and "didn't really talk to anyone", a neighbour confirmed.

Snowden's introduction to The Washington Post, which along with The Guardian published details of the NSA's Prism programme that taps into data from firms such as Google and Facebook, reads like a spy novel. Reporter Barton Gellman described how Snowden went by the codename "Verax", Latin for someone who speaks the truth.

He had a come long way, defying the odds at every step, before giving it all up, risking, as he put it to the Post, "my life and family" to expose the "omniscient state powers kept in check by nothing more than policy documents".

Born on 21 June, 1983, Snowden, whose identity was revealed at his own request, grew up first in North Carolina and then in shadow of the NSA headquarters in Maryland. He left high school without a diploma, although he later earned his GED, a lesser qualification. His mother reportedly still lives in Maryland, working Damian Lillard Red Jersey as a deputy clerk in a district court.

After school, Snowden did not appear to have had any ambitions to work as a spy. His aim was to join the elite special forces, and he took a first step in that direction when he signed up with the army reserves. He claims that he enlisted in 2003; the military has since said he signed up in May 2004, leaving four months later when he broke both his legs in an accident. It was then that he began working as a security guard. Soon, however, he was with the CIA in Damian Lillard kids Jersey IT security, a job that a couple of years later led to a foreign posting under the cloak of a diplomatic assignment. His time with the CIA led him to question the power vested in America's covert agencies.

Snowden switched to an outside contractor in 2009 and worked for a while in Japan. Barack Obama swept to power in 2008, riding a wave of liberal support motivated in no small part by his opposition to the Bush administration and its LaMarcus Aldridge Mens Jersey security policies. But, as an insider, Snowden could see that nothing was changing quite the opposite, in fact. Snowden's opposition to Obama is borne out by two public records from last year showing an Edward Snowden working for Dell in Maryland and another in Hawaii making donations to the libertarian Republican politician Ron Paul.

Snowden, whose most recent job was with the NSA contractor Booz Allen Hamilton, decided to take matters in his own hands and began LaMarcus Aldridge Navy Jersey speaking to the press earlier this year. Guardian columnist Glenn Greenwald has said he and Laura Poitras, a filmmaker, have been working with him since February, months before he told his NSA supervisor that he was leaving for a couple of weeks to seek treatment for epilepsy. Instead he boarded a jet bound for Hong Kong and disclosed the secret files to journalists.

According to Gellman, who had his first direct exchange with Snowden on 16 May, the former CIA worker demanded that his Prism leak be published within 72 hours before he went elsewhere. The reason? "I told him we would not make any guarantee what we published or when." Snowden appears not to have deserted the reporter completely as he unmasked himself on Sunday night, beside him sat Gellman's book on Dick Cheney, Angler.

Struggling Vikings CBS Minnesota

Struggling Vikings CBS Minnesota

(AP) The New York Giants have a pretty good hunch what to expect from Minnesota with newcomer Josh Freeman taking over at quarterback for the struggling Vikings.

Adrian Peterson to the left. to the right. Peterson more often than not Replica Christian Louboutin in the nationally televised game on Monday night between two of the league biggest flops this season.

The Giants (0 6) are reasonably sure Freeman isn going to know the offense totally after just a couple of weeks with the Vikings (1 4). That leaves Peterson to carry the load off, and that not a bad option with the halfback coming one of the best rushing seasons in league history.

think he a different guy, Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said when asked to compare him to some of the better backs in the league. watched him in the offseason study and he really good. I see guys hit him, tackle him, beat him up, punch him and he just keeps coming. He got an iron will, and he just a strong runner, and he got a great determination to make those yards, and so we all have to be on the same page. We have to swarm tackle. We have to gang tackle. We have to see what we hit and hit what we see. is the bigger question mark for the Giants defense, which has given up a league high 209 points. He was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this month after a miserable start and signed by Minnesota because starter Christian Ponder hurt his ribs. Ponder is expected to be the backup this week.

Freeman started 59 games over four plus seasons in Tampa with his best being in 2010 when he threw 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. He had four TDs and 12 interceptions in his last six games and his quarterback rating of 59.3 this season was last in the league when he was released.

the moment he stepped in the building, he wanted to learn. And the way he handled himself in that practice, it changed my mindset about the possibilities, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said. had a timeframe in mind originally, but watching what he did from the day he arrived, that cemented it for me that sooner was a possibility. he was with Christian Louboutin Outlet Carolina, Giants middle linebacker Jon Beason played against Freeman a lot, and he knows the quarterback is a competitor.

more than capable, he a good dude, said Beason, who had michael kors outlet a team high 12 tackles against the Bears on Oct. 10 in his first start. know him personally, and he can make all the throws, he scrambles better than people think, so not having him on tape kind of hurts us on the defensive side because it leaves you guessing. said the Giants need to stop the run first, something the team has done well in recent games LeSean McCoy of the Eagles and Matt Forte.

Peterson, who rushed for 2,097 yards michael kors outlet cheap bags last season, is special, Beason said. But it a challenge he relishes.

how you define yourself, Beason said. all about what you do against man. If he the standard, then you want to see where you measure up. the Vikings trailing against Carolina last week, Peterson was limited to 62 yards on 10 carries, a season high 6.2 yard average. He was limited at practice on Thursday and Saturday and did not practice on Friday because of a hamstring injury. He has been listed as probable for the game.

The Giants running game is a more iffy with Brandon Jacobs also fighting a hamstring. He did not practice on Saturday and is questionable for the game. If he can go, the Giants will have to use either veteran newcomer Peyton Hollis, who was signed this week, rookie Michael Cox or feature fullback John Conner.

The result is the Giants might have to rely more on Eli Manning, who leads the league with 15 interceptions.

The only certainty is that this is a game between two teams desperate for a win.

we have to approach it that way in our preparation, and when we on the flight to go over there we have to approach this with a must win mentality, Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway said. our coaches need to coach like that. Our players need to play like that. We just have to have that approach all week, that every game at this point is a must win.

Photos: Rams sack the BucsRams Report Card vs. Tampa BayNFL cheerleaders the holiday editionA Look Back St. Other than that, everything went just swell in a 30 15 loss to Carolina. Two early turnovers put the Rams (3 4) into a hole they couldn't climb out of. Defensive end Chris Long was ejected in the third quarter for throwing a punch during a brawl. The worst blow of the day came when quarterback Sam Bradford suffered what appears to be a significant left knee injury with 5 minutes to play in the fourth quarter. On second and 10 from the Carolina 37, Bradford scrambled to his right and attempted to run out of bounds at the 36. He was shoved hard near the sideline by Panthers safety Mike Mitchell, landing awkwardly out of bounds on his left knee.It was clear immediately that Bradford was injured, and perhaps badly injured. While Bradford was writhing in pain on the ground, Mitchell "celebrated" his achievement by sticking his chest out and raising his arms to the air in triumph just a few feet from where Bradford was on the ground. That was enough for starting right guard Harvey Dahl. He raced over and accosted Mitchell. Dahl's anger grew when he checked on Bradford and saw how much pain he was in on the ground. Dahl, turned, raced back out on the field toward Mitchell and started shoving him again, and was flagged for a personal foul."I'm not going to speculate (on Bradford's injury)," coach Jeff Fisher said at his postgame news conference. "I'm not going to deal with hypotheticals until I really find out what's going on with the injury."But Rams players were bracing for the worst after Bradford was carted off the field, and then was seen on crutches once he reached the visitors' locker room at Bank of America Stadium. He was wearing what appeared to be an immobilizing brace on the left knee."I'm hurting now from (from Bradford's injury)," wide receiver Brian Quick said with a big sigh after the game. "I hate to see any of my teammates go down. I'm gonna pray everything's OK.""It's heartbreaking, man," said linebacker James Laurinaitis. "To see how hard Sam prepares . first in, last out, and to truly become the leader on that side of the ball, it's heartbreaking to see him go down."Bradford finished with 21 completions in 30 attempts for 255 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. His passer rating was 93.1. He had a 63 yard touchdown pass to Tavon Austin called back because of a tripping penalty against Rams left tackle Jake Long in the second quarter. Early in the fourth quarter, Quick dropped what would've been a 24 yard TD reception in the end zone.Backup quarterback Kellen Clemens finished out the game for Bradford and would take over for him as the starter at least in the short term starting with the team's Monday nighter Oct. 28 against Seattle."Sam believes in us just like we believed in him," offensive tackle Rodger Saffold said. "And we're gonna believe in Kellen, too. So whatever happens and wherever we're at, we are gonna play till the end of the whistle."One of the team's problems Sunday was that it did too much after the whistle. It all started when with just under 10 minutes to play in the third quarter, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton completed an 11 yard pass to tight end Greg Olsen.Back downfield, behind the line of scrimmage, a scuffle ensued between Carolina left tackle Jordan Gross and Rams defensive end Robert Quinn. Several other Panthers got in on the scuffle, then the rest of the Rams' defense came to Quinn's aid.Referee Bill Vinovich's crew couldn't control the situation. The fracas continued for a couple of minutes, with at least a couple of dozen players pushing and shoving. Then Chris Long threw a punch in the direction of Panthers right guard Chris Scott, and was ejected. Carolina players celebrated Long's dismissal on the field as if they had just won the Super Bowl, but they were not flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. With all that in mind, it was surprising to hear Fisher say after the game: "I thought the crew did a pretty good job getting things under control. I'm disappointed that Chris made the decision that he did. He suffered the consequences. He shouldn't put himself in a position where he's watching the game from the locker room. He should be on the field. And he understands that."Long declined to discuss specifics of the ruckus, and his punch, but did apologize for his actions."I just apologize for losing my cool," he said. "I don't want to hurt my football teams, but I just stick up for my teammates. . ."That was wrong. I need to be more composed. When you play with a lot of emotion, there's a fine line between being over the line and reeling it back in. So I need to reel it back in. The game meant a lot and there were a lot of situations where we probably let them get the best of us in situations where we needed to reel it in."Fisher thought the start of scuffle was a Carolina attempt to retaliate for a hard hit by Quinn on a play that took place two plays earlier. Newton handed off DeAngelo Williams on the play, but it was with read option action. As Quinn approached Newton's back, he couldn't tell if the Newton still had the ball or had handed it off. So he tackled Newton _ a perfectly legal play."He's a big guy, athletic quarterback," Quinn said. "If he'd have spun out and thrown a touchdown or ran for whatever _ my job was to take the quarterback if they're were to do a play like that. And that's all I did."Newton was shaken up on the play but not John Wall Navy Jersey injured. Beginning with the brawl that led to Long's ejection, things were ultra chippy the rest of the way. More often than not, it was the Rams who got caught and were penalized reacting to a push or a shove.
